Introduction: Kendriya Vidyalaya Matanhail, a prominent educational institution, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti with great enthusiasm and reverence on October 2, 2023. These two significant occasions were observed with a series of events and activities aimed at instilling values of peace, non-violence, and patriotism among the students.

Event Highlights:

Morning Assembly: The celebration began with a special morning assembly that brought together students, teachers, and staff members. The assembly commenced with singing the national anthem and a rendition of Gandhiji's favorite bhajan, "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram." This was followed by a brief introduction to the life and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Matanhail Principal.

Elocution and Essay Competitions: Students from various classes actively participated in elocution and essay writing competitions. The topics revolved around the principles and ideals Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri upheld. The students exhibited their eloquence and knowledge while emphasizing the importance of truth, non-violence, and self-reliance in today's world.

Art and Craft Exhibition: A special art and craft exhibition was organized, where students showcased their creativity by creating paintings, posters, and other artworks depicting the lives and messages of Gandhi and Shastri. The exhibition served as a visual tribute to these great leaders and their philosophies.

Documentary Screening: A documentary film about the life and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri was screened for the students. It provided an insightful glimpse into their struggles, sacrifices, and remarkable leadership.

Pledge-Taking Ceremony: In a solemn ceremony, students and teachers took a pledge to uphold the principles of truth, non-violence, and honesty in their lives. This pledge-taking was a symbolic way of honoring the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Floral Tributes: The event concluded with floral tributes offered to portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The entire school paid their respects by offering flowers and observing a moment of silence in remembrance of these great leaders.

‘Fit India Quiz’ is an initiative by the KV Matanhail to create awareness among students and teachers crossways regarding fitness, health and nutrition. This activity aims to engage, excite and enable students to motivate them towards fitness and raise awareness about fitness through an interactive learning process.

The Fit India Quiz contains MCQ based on the fitness, health, indigenous games and nutrition.  These questions are designed to motivate to get fit by leaning about various matters related to health such as what kind of activities help in gaining fitness, what kind of diets help in remaining fit, and what kind of indigenous sports are played in our country. Through this fun and interactive quiz, participants would have the opportunity to not only test their knowledge about fitness and win attractive prizes but also get motivated in getting fit.

The overall objective of the Fit India Quiz is to bring about physical and to adopt healthy lifestyle through the KVS.

National Education Day - India

 Every year since 2008, November 11 is celebrated as education day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. He served as the first Education Minister of independent India, who served from 15 August 1947 until 2 February 1958. National Education Day of India is celebrated on  11 November every year. The day is also seen as an occasion to remember Azad's contribution in laying the foundations of the education system in an independent India, and evaluating and improving the country's current performance in the field.

KV Matanhail is organizing following awareness activity for the students and teachers of the vidyalaya :

The Two-year long commemoration period of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi will be concluding on 2nd October, 2020. To celebrate the occasion, The Department of school education and Literacy has collaborated with National Council of National Council of Educational Research and Training(NCERT) to organize a quiz on Mahatma Gandhi. 

The Quiz is designed carefully to assess the knowledge and" understanding of Life, Works and Values that Mahatma Gandhi stood for. The

Quiz items are meant For children from 

The primary classes-III to V, 

Middle- VI to VIII and

Secondary /Senior Secondary IX to XII. 

The questions will be available in Hindi and English medium.

My Book My Friend’ Campaign

World Book Day is celebrated every year to promote reading, publishing and copyright. On the occasion of World Book Day 2020, ‘My Book My Friend’ campaign was launched by Hon’ble HRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ to encourage students and teachers to keep reading books.

In continuation to its efforts to promote reading habits among students and support the launch of ‘My Book My Friend’ campaign, KVS encourages its Vidyalaya to be part of this campaign.

The students may be encouraged to go beyond their textbooks and discover the joy of reading some other books of their interest available in their homes or on internet. The students may be assisted in the selection of books by sharing with them the list of books and links from where they can download the books free of cost.

The e-books, available in school library, can also be shared with the students. Books can be the best friends in the times we are in. Students sitting at home due to closure of schools may utilise their time by exploring the realm of good books. The power of books can be leveraged to combat isolation, cope with fears and anxieties.

Reading of books will not only give new knowledge and ideas to the students but will also enhance their imagination, critical thinking, language skills, focus, memory and concentration.

The KVS looks forward to the whole-hearted cooperation of all its Vidyalaya in supporting this campaign and enriching the reading experience of our young generation.

प्यारे विद्यर्थियो जैसा कि आप सभी को जनवरी और फरवरी माह में अवगत कराया गया था कि यदि आप अपनी पाठ्यपुस्तक उपहार स्वरूप ज़रुरत मंद विद्यार्थी को देना चाहते हैं तो 3अप्रैल को पुस्तको उपहार कार्यक्रम किया जायेगा उसमे भाग ले सकते है।

परंतु लॉक डाउन की परिस्थिति में अब 

सभी विद्यार्थी अपनी पिछली कक्षा की पुस्तकें अपने साथी या जानकारी में जो भी बच्चा हों, जिसे आपकी पुस्तकों की आवश्यकता हो, उसे अपनी पुस्तके उपहार में अच्छे से कवर चढ़ा कर अपने माता पिता के माध्यम से सामाजिक दूरी का ध्यान रखते हुए उपहार स्वरूप दें सकते हैं ।

स्कूल खुलने पर अपने कक्षा अध्यापक को इस बारे में लिख कर अवगत करवाने हेतु आप अभी लोकडाउन में एक ग्रह कार्य कर रख लें ।

ग्रह कार्य: अपने प्राचार्य /कक्षा अध्यापक को आप द्वारा अपनी पुरानी परंतु अच्छी पाठ्य पुस्तकों को उपहार स्वरूप किसी जरूरतमंद विद्यार्थी को देने या लेने के बाद एक पत्र/ रिपोर्ट/डायरी/निबंध .....लिख कर अवगत करने हेतु  A4  कागज पर लिख कर रखें । 

नोट: कितनी पुस्तकें आपने उपहार में दी एवं / या कितनी आपने प्राप्त की को विषय बनाये ।

पुस्तक उपहार से पर्यावरण, समाज, नैतिक मूल्यों आदि पर होने वाले प्रभाव का भी जिक्र करें।
